As a qualified holistic massage therapist in the UK, I have a couple of online discussions with great interest. A debate that is likely to continue indefinitely "to what extent permitted nudity or necessary for a full body massage?"
I am qualified with ITEC, a clear message that "towel-management" is very important, and that the "modesty client must be protected at all times, with pants or trousers held up and only the body part will be massaged exposed to a given time. In other words, the client with towels at any time, in addition to the part of the body, perhaps a leg or back, being massaged uncovered. Opinions on whether this is the best approach seems to be strongly divided among my colleagues.
Massage & Relaxation
It seems that in other parts of the world as usual for customers to be naked even if mostly covered with a sheet, or perhaps a "loincloth" in case of Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian> Massage). In Britain, it seems that the "word" massage is, for many, the sexual connotations, such as problems arise. Perhaps not surprisingly, the usual "female therapist, male client" scenario, causing more problems.
There are several possibilities regarding the issue of nudity massage;
Therapist and patient partially dress clothes, blankets,
Therapist and patient dress and undress covered
Therapist and dressedClient naked and exposed
Therapist and patient stripped naked and exposed (naked massage).
Of course, I have other scenarios included (maybe my imagination is not him!). But, as these scenarios are concerned, are the potential problems
Customers expect more than just a massage,
The therapists are uncomfortable with a client to want to be naked
Therapists question the reasons forCustomers
Therapists and clients feel that a "full body massage is at risk if you are wearing underwear and draped over the body,
Some therapists are not comfortable with naked, while others
As I said, I'm sure this debate continues and there are many different opinions and wide-ranging. My opinion is that the customers feel comfortable and accommodated their preferences, if possible, but this was never at the expense ofcomfort your therapist. The intuition of the therapist is probably the best indicator of what is and what is not appropriate.
Massage - nude or not?
